None of the gear sets we encountered were worn. In fact, every set was like new. I would not take anything for granted on your motor. If there was enough run time to wear the rods the water pump could definitely be worn.
I hear ya, Tubs. Neither my friend nor I have enjoyed working on these motors. It’s hard to stay motivated. I wouldn’t do another one. 1936 is a rare bird. I might be swayed by one of them. The powerhead arrangement is pretty interesting.
Just tore it down and there’s good news and bad. Good news is everything except the rod looks really good. Bad news is I definitely need a new rod, and probably the piston, rings, wrist pin, etc. The cylinder looks excellent and should just need a hone but the piston and rings look like they’re pretty worn. I think I’m probably also going to need the lower water inlet pipe too. Mine has a hole in it and is just kind of bent up. I apparently can’t post a wanted ad, is that because I’m not a full member?
