Wisco, my go-to book is Motor and Boat Identification Reference Manual & Directory 3rd Edition, published by Intertec, this one is copyrighted 1996. It’s not the greatest for antique stuff – Evinrude only goes back to ’38, for example, and Caille, Lockwood, and many others are missing. But for postwar motors it seems fairly complete. It includes model/ser /bore/stroke/displacement data, weight (except for a lot of Mercs), and original list price.
It also lists a gazillion boat manufacturers, most of which by far now kapootie.
I have looked without much success for other copies of this book, its not an easy find. Ebay and Amazon seem the most likely places ?

This guy had a water pump for an old 12hp West Bend motor I had. He may have parts for yours as well.

Thank you for the info ko4nrbs, I’m waiting for my third manual from Ebay right now before I dive into this thing. And thank you to retiredoz for your help as well. This is my first "big" motor total over haul but because it was my Dads, I want to make it my best.

And a BIG thank you to Gary Orlof. I got the starter you sent me and it’s perfect! One step closer to reliving my past.
