I finally brought the West Bend inside to start working on it. Right off I have a question regarding the flywheel. This one has 3 holes in it that hold the rope pulley on, but they seem to far away from the crankshaft to be effective for pulling the flywheel. I am afraid of bending something if I use them.
What is my best option? Flywheel knocker, or something that I have not thought of yet?
Looking a the picture, I see that they drilled balance holes in the rope sheave. I hope that thing only fits on one way. Otherwise, it would be awfully easy to put it on so it’s way out of balance.

Frank,
I noticed that too, so I marked both before I took it apart.
I don’t know about this one. But many West Bend flywheels don’t have puller holes, so I think they must have been comfortable with people using knockers.
