What is this????

Picked up a "Barn Find " 1926 A-25 today. It has a strange attachment on the propeller. Anybody have an idea what it might be or any info. I am thinking some type of cutter, weeds, fishing line or??? Or a part of something else. Any ideas.

I had one of those on a Waterwitch too and that question came up not too long ago and somebody posted this (maybe Mumbles or Tubs judging from the color of the text).

Whow! That’s it Steve. I guess I missed that post. Don’t know why anyone would need one on a A Johnson or any other small hp. motor, but advertising hype likely played a huge part in their success ( or failure ) All I need now is the disc attachment and I will be sure to catch the BIG ones 😉

That’s mine in the picture.
I can remember where I got it now.
Someone on eBay had like 50 of them
asking $20.00 each but I never did see
him sell any. I suspect if you decided
to speed up the disc was gone if you
didn’t take it off. I’ve seen several
clips on Pals and Rangers.

Even saw one on a Cub once.

Here is another brand. (Go Slow)
Looks like they would stay on better.

A "Boat House Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Uh… yeah. Because all of those motors were uncontrollably fast, right?
