Obviously. I’ve never seen one, PTL. Looks like it power tilts up to the side.

EDIT: Or am I missing something? How does it steer?

It looks to me like the entire transom assembly is missing. I don’t see what the drive would attach to, to adapt it to a transom. That being said, I have no idea what most of the extra parts do….I see what you mean about the possibility of tilting sideways but I still can’t envision exactly how. Very interesting piece. I thought I’d seen all the old drives but not THAT one!

          Long live American manufacturing!

Did a google search and found one post on Old Marine Engine website.
Fella asked about one and never got an answer.
He said it rotated 360 degrees and that’s about it.

It’s hard to tell, but looking at the last picture it looks like the bottom below the cavitation plate turns for the steering. That may be what the lever protrusion is on the barrel that goes through the transom. Very unique piece for sure.

From the small knowledge I have…Muncies entry into a newly expanding I/O market. Remember seeing a popular Mechanics article that mentioned it. I’m sure it is a rare item. What you would do with it? Still very cool piece.

If you’re looking for impracticality, might I suggest….
