I would not put a big Homey on that boat. Way to heavy. The weight alone will probably capsize that boat, A $$ first 😀

says the 1962 bearcat was 232 pounds. In comparison:

says the 1959 Evinrude 50hp was 216 poundsTwo 1955 evinrude 25’s would have been 258 pounds
http://boatspecs.iboats.com/Evinrude__B … e/57e12664A 1958 Mercury Mk58E (45hp) was only 131 lbs:

Tohatsu: 209 lbs
http://www.tohatsu.com/outboards/50_4st.htmlMercury: 247 lbs
https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/eng … ificationsYamaha: 249 lbs

June 6, 2016 at 4:50 pm #37780A 4 stroke has many more parts than a 2 stroke. Valves, cams, maybe push rods or followers, valve springs, valve seats & valve guides.
Late model motors have aluminum blocks to get a little lighter outcome. The ignition & carbs are too upgraded to run cleaner on newer stuff too. Look for how well it is warrinteed too. No spell check any more?June 6, 2016 at 5:26 pm #37783I would consider the Tohatsu 50 two stoke TLDI MD 50 in a short shaft version before I’d opt for the Tohatsu 50hp Four stroke.
