What year is the 9.5 Johnson?
http://www.do-bid.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?dobid97/127/1Wondering if it would be a parts donor for my 66 Evinrude?
ThanksPrepare to be boarded!
September 24, 2015 at 5:24 pm #24521It looks like a 1964 or 1965 Johnson. The tiller arm does not seem to have the adjustable trolling speed dial. It is hard to tell from the picture. It may have a mixture of parts from different year motors on it….dunno.

In any event, the rest of the engine is the dark green color, which was only used from 1969-1971.September 24, 2015 at 7:11 pm #24524Thanks guys, will now have to research if a 71 ish Johnson has any
compatible parts with my 66 Evinrude 9.5….. or
I may bid on it anyway…. never can go wrong to have parts
for a potential project.. right? 🙂Prepare to be boarded!
September 24, 2015 at 8:34 pm #24533Should be a compatible for a donor motor. After 1966 they added different tiller arm with the trolling speed knob, vibration dampeners, and the hood latch is different.
The rest of the motor except the face plates should all cross over.
Cheers,
CajunSeptember 24, 2015 at 8:55 pm #24536I look briefly an Marineengine’s diagrams, and see both
motors use the same rubber motor mounts, then
supper interrupted. Will see if I can get a hold of the
auction place tomorrow for more info, i.e., why it’s deemed
a "parts motor", etc.Prepare to be boarded!
September 24, 2015 at 8:56 pm #24537Can you get the model number of the engine, that will pinpoint its year exactly
September 24, 2015 at 8:58 pm #24538Just to be a PITA, I’m going with 1970.
Long live American manufacturing!

A thorough tune up and cleaning should put this back in service by the weekend.
