      Hello to all;
      I’m thinking about taking a drive to check out this Johnson.
      Maybe give it a compression test.
      Any notable aspects? Any common positives or cautions?
      Many thanks, and happy motoring!
      Alan

        My guess is a 65. I have a 5 hp that looks pretty much the same.

          Without taking time to research it, that is about right. Excellent motors. Like anything else, condition is everything.

            I believe that it is a 1965. This motor has the counterclockwise prop and they are hard to find if you need one. Ed

              The motor in the photo has to be a six horse. It has a shifter while the five horse motors were direct drive.

                Do you have a model number?

                  6hp props are easy to find. 5hp props are rare as chicken fangs. Yep, the one in the picture is a 6hp (with gearshift)

                    Much thanks to all!
                    He’ll be back in town tomorrow, and I’ll post pics if it passes the compression test.
                    Appreciated;
