      He says it’s a 57, but I think it’s older. Anyone know? I’m thinking 54 or 55?

        Yup def not 1957, is a 1954

        1955 they went to the clamshell cowl.

            I’m thinking it’s a 1953 or earlier. I know the 1954 5.5hp Johnson has the "wings" on the cowling facing to the rear, the ’53 & earlier the "wings" pointed forward.
            Edit – I did a little research and learned that the larger Johnson outboards in 1954 kept the "forward pointing wings", so not all models made the change.

              Yeah as you can see on the ’53 the "Sea Horse" is in script form. Different decals.
