Wife and I spent a few days with friends that
live several hundred miles from our home so
we added a couple days to hit the antique
shops between here and there. Found this
picture on top of a box of old snapshots.
$.50 each 3 for a $1.00. I don’t know what
motors are hanging there but I’m sure there are
some people here that do. I was hoping to bring
a motor home but this is as close as I could get.
The motor to the right of them is most likely an OMC. A large fuel pump is on it. The other two motors to their left look like OMC 35 hp or up from looking at the water Inlet on the LU
I’m sure someone can identify it better than I using my cell phone screen.

Yep, late 1980s, early 1990s Johnson 20-30 hp. The 35 had been re-rated to 30 by then. The motors have black painted blocks and cable throttle control, which narrows it down a little bit. I also spy the 100:1 sticker above the fuel plug on the racked motors.

quote PugetSoundBoater:
When did they start painting the powerheads black? Was it done on both Johnson and Evinrude?
I believe it was 1985, and yes, for both Johnson and Evinrude. Saved a few pennies, I’m sure, as all the blocks could go through the same assembly line start to finish.
