Yes, what Tubs said. When I read the OP. I knew that he needed that valve with the very light spring. On a normal Shrader, the air chuck has a projection the opens the valve. The valve for the compression tester the valve is opened only by the pressure of the air, the spring only ensures that the valve snaps closed.
Perhaps check with a good auto parts store for a replacement valve.
You’ll need a tool to get the old one out. There are probably over 100 available starting with the one on top which is also a cap for the valve stem on you car. Yours is sitting pretty high so you might be able to remove it with a small pair of needle nose but you want to be careful not to do any damage to the threads.
A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
