      Is there a source for purchasing a wood starter cord handle or do most restorers make their own. I haven’t seen any listed for sale on ebay or any other site.

        Well there is this e-bay seller. Not sure if it wouid be ornate enough for you as shown but maybe he offers variations if you shoot him a message.

            That starter handle (shown in this 1937 Elto Ace parts book – item 8, plate 3 – was in the factory tool kit that included a spark plug and a feeler gage. On larger motors it also contained a screw driver, a pair of pliers, an adjustable wrench and owners manual.

              The handle was larger in diameter than a broomstick and tapered toward the ends. The hole in the center for the quarter inch rope was counter bored on one side to hide the knot on the end of the rope.
