I will be working on 1955 25 hp RD-17 this winter
Does anyone have the actual service bulletins regarding –
"Service bulletins were issued to open the quarter inch hole in the front lower motor cover to two inches and to remove the rubber elbow and the acoustical liner from the intake air silencer."
or any other service bulletins on the 1955 25 hp RD-17
Just want to make the RD 17 the best it can be

In my 20 years with the club I have found only one ’55 Big Twin that did NOT have the larger hole in the pan under the carburetor. . . 😉

Just for fun I checked (parts list) the pan of a 1955 25 hp vs 1956 30 hp
The 1955 shows no hole The 1956 does

Garry, thanks so much for taking the time to prepare and present such an informative and interesting history lesson.
              Bill.

                Thank you everyone.
Based on everything discussed here, the only question that remains is the compression ratio. I will wait until I can get two heads in my hands and compare them. Everything esle seems to be the same, crank size and comprssion relief aside.
